How is A+ In Home Tutors different from a learning center?

Do your tutors know the Common Core Curriculum?
  • Yes, our tutors are familiar with Common Core Curriculum taught in public schools.
Are there any assessment tests my child must take before being tutored by A+ In Home Tutors ?

No, assessment tests (which can cost up to $200.00 in a learning center environment) are not a prerequisite in order for your child to be tutored.

Does A+ In Home Tutors supply any learning materials for the tutoring sessions?

We highly recommend that your child bring home their school books or any other materials they are working on in their class that relates to the subject(s) we are tutoring.

In some cases our tutors will provide enrichment materials to enhance what your child is learning. We will help direct you to free and for purchase resources when appropriate. Many of our talented tutors can design a curriculum specifically for your student.

Does tutoring always take place in my home?

We come to you at your convenience. We require that a parent or guardian over the age of 21 be at home for the entire tutoring session. Tutoring can also take place at a local library or place of business. We are extremely accommodating, so let us know what works best for you.

What are your tutors' qualifications?

Our tutors are either full-time credentialed teachers, substitute teachers, retired teachers, professionals or graduate students with at least two years of teaching tutoring experience. We check all references, obtain background checks and personally interview every tutor.

What if my child doesn't like the tutor?

If, for any reason, you do not think the tutor is a good match with your student, please contact our office immediately and we will gladly assign another tutor.

Are there a minimum number of sessions for which I have to commit and how long is each session?

No, we do not have any long-term contracts, however, we strongly suggest a minimum of four sessions in order to really see progress. The minimum amount of time for each session is one hour.

Do your tutors work with learning challenged or special needs children?

Yes, many of our tutors are Special Needs experienced and/or certified and will be able to work in conjunction with your child’s I.E.P. or 504 Plan.

I home school my child. Can you help me?

Yes. If your student is being home schooled, we will provide a qualified tutor to meet your home school program criteria.

I have more than one child. Can you tutor all of them at the same time?

Optimal learning takes place one-on-one. Please contact our office to consult the most cost-effective way for all of your students to be tutored.

How long do I have to wait to get a tutor assigned to my student?

After our initial consultation, and forms have been signed, we contact one of our outstanding tutors within 24 hours. We will contact you to tell you about the tutor. The tutor will call, introduce themselves, and establish a schedule that works for you. The total process usually takes about 48 hours or less.

Do you tutor students in college?

Yes, we have many highly qualified college level tutors available. College students can be tutored on campus or online.

What geographical areas do you service?

We are a California based company, and by referral, provide outstanding tutors in all 50 United States.

Do you provide test preparation for the SAT and ACT tests?

Yes, we will help your student prepare for one or both exams. We highly recommend a minimum of 6-8 weeks of prep time. We have no minimums, however, our experience shows that two hours at a time for test prep is the most effective way to study. The rate is the same as our hourly rates for tutoring.

Do you accept major credit cards?

Yes, we accept Visa and MasterCard. Your credit card information is securely kept on file and automatic monthly or bi-monthly payments are offered. If you prefer to pay by check, no problem. You always have the option to change your preferred method of payment…call or e-mail us and we’ll make the appropriate switch.
